ABOUT THE EVENT

IUVSTA workshop on Advanced Plasma Diagnostics for Surface Engineering and Film Deposition

The 110th Workshop on Advanced Plasma Diagnostics for Surface Engineering and Film Deposition will take place on 5–8 October 2026 in Colorado, USA, organized by the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA). This workshop brings together researchers, engineers and industry experts in the field of plasma diagnostics, surface engineering and thin-film deposition.

The IUVSTA workshop focuses on investigating plasma processes to achieve precisely engineered surfaces and thin films with topics about the fundamental plasma characteristics and the resulting film composition, structure and features, as well as advanced plasma characterization methods, surface reactions, plasma cleaning and etching, and in-situ process monitoring.

Also, this program emphasizes on plasma-assisted thin film deposition, including PVD and sputtering technologies, magnetron sputtering diagnostics, HiPIMS deposition, and reactive plasma processes.

The workshop highlights plasma diagnostics, including monitoring plasma density, magnetic-field strength and configuration, power waveform, and ion bombardment as an essential tool for controlling thin film composition and microstructure, which directly influences coating performance in magnetron sputtering deposition of functional, multilayer and high-performance coatings.

Vac Coat Ltd. introduces magnetron sputter coater machines with precise control over plasma current and deposition workflow, as well as real-time monitoring of the process parameters. Vac Coat sputter coating systems can be delivered with extended optional features, such as RF and DC power supplies, customized sample holder stages, substrate bias and heater, glow discharge plasma treatment, etc., for advanced surface engineering.
