Enhancement of the CoSb3 thin film thermoelectric properties

Thermoelectric (TE) device can directly convert heat to electricity, and vice versa. TE device can work as a solid-state heat pump. Thus can drive to direct conversion of waste heat from for example automobile exhausts to electricity.

CoSb3 has been considered as one of the most promising thermoelectric materials in the intermediate temperature range (450-750 ˚K). It’s a semiconductor with narrow band gap and large carrier mobility.

Ag doped CoSb3 thin film was investigated by Fan et al. The thin film was grown directly by the effective magnetron sputtering process. Both the electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient are greatly enhanced after Ag doping, resulting in the enhancement of power factor.
